Journalism 2 Reflection

Being a part of Journalism 2 has been a very fun experience for me. I was very excited to be in this class at the beginning of the year. Its been so cool to use the tools and techniques that I learned from Journalism 1 last year. While I enjoyed working on the school newspaper, I think blogs help showcase our personalities and interests more. It was very fun writing the school newspaper because it allowed us to socialzie with friends and come up with news stories for our school. I loved writing a story that people would enjoy and interviewing people on topics that were really valuable. Writing the school newspaer took a lot of work and effort from both the students and our teacher, Mr. Adams.

Blogs were also really exciting because we got to pick what we wanted it to be about. With blogs, we have full control over what we want to say and how we want our website to look like. Pop music is one of my favorite thigns in the entire world and being able to write blogs about a genre of music that I absolutely love made me so happy. Pop music has been around for a long time and its been cool to write about it and update people every week about what’s going on in pop culture.

As the school year is winding down, I’ve been able to reflect on the kind of year that its been and also what I’ve been able to accomplish. I got an A all quarters so far, which I’m really happy about. The stories that I wrote this year are very meaningful and has been fun to write. RobyPop was one of the hardest things that I’ve worked on this year and I can honestly say that I’m proud of all the blogs that I’ve made. The school year is not over, which means there are even more opportunites to keep improving on my blogs and writing skills. Journalism 2 has showed me the value of being a writer and how hard it is to come up with quality content that people will enjoy reading.

The Backyardigans: A Trip to my Backyard

A beautiful lake makes the perfect scenery for residents.
Green plants recieving sunlight is what makes a backyard the magical place that it is.
A gorgeous bush that adds the perfect aspect to this backyard and makes it more special.
A view for all the residents in the neighborhood to enjoy the true beauty of nature.
A picture of rocks that would make the perfect collection for people who love to collect miscellaneous items.
Birds in a flock sticking together is a good example of how humans should stick together because all we have is each other.

Ariana goes trap with “7 rings”

Ariana Grande continues to smash streaming records with the release of her new single titled “7 rings”. She previously teased the song for a couple of weeks leaving hints on Twitter and Instagram giving fans high expectations. 7 rings is the second single off of her upcoming fifth studio album ‘thank u, next”. The song and music video arrived last Friday and broke the internet sending social media into a frenzy.

As the song starts, the track’s echo and suspense immediately grabs listeners attention forcing people to listen carefully as Ariana starts singing with her mesmerizing vocals. Some listeners thought that the instrumental of “7 rings” sounded almost exactly the same Nicki Minaj’s smash hit “Only” featuring Drake, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

“Yeah, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and bottles of bubbles/Girls with tattoos who like getting in trouble/Lashes and diamonds, ATM machines/Buy myself all of my favorite things”.

The lyrics of “7 rings” shows Ariana exploring the themes of money, wealth, and friendship. Ariana references the 1959 show tune My Favorite Things. The popstar shows a different side of herself as she boasts about money, houses, and diamonds.

The rhythm pretty much stays the same throughout the whole song as Ariana uses layers in the instrumental to hype up the track. As the chorus begans, there is a slight beat drop mixed with a little bit of trap influences.

The title of the song is a reference to a story that Ariana told in an interview with Billboard about doing retail theraphy at Tiffany’s had them a bit tipsy. Hence, she bought 7 diamond rings for herself and her six friends as friendship rings influencing the title and the idea of the song.

Once again, Ariana continues reinvent pop music and giving fans something new that they haven’t heard from her before. The music video has a bright Japanesse inspired aesthetic that wil leave people shook.

Give this song a listen and watch the music video down below because your eyes won’t regret it.

Lana Del Rey’s comeback: hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but i have it

On January 9, 2018, Lana Del Rey released the long-awaited third fan single off of her upcoming album titled “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but i have it”. She had teased the song lyrics prior to the release and it contains the line “I’ve been tearing around in my nightgown/24/7 Sylvia Path/Writing in blood on the walls/’Cause the ink in my pen don’t work in my notepad”. Unlike her other work, this song is a minimal piano ballad that grabs listeners attention and allows Lana to show off her layered and detailed lyricism.

This song references the famous American poet, novelist, and short-story writer Sylvia Plath. Lana has cited Sylvia as one of her key inspirations as she is most notably referenced in the chorus of the song. Overall, the arrangement of this song is pretty straightforward which makes up for the song’s clear and transparent imagery.
